In summer 2016 the Memory Maypole by Whimsy & EYE (Amy El Fehli & I) was for install selected by Body & Soul and Knockanstockan music festivals. We soon learned the lesson every artist eventually does - sometimes the idea is easier than the execution. After a crowdfunding campaign, talking our way into materials from Dunne Stores, St Vincent de Pauls & Dunne & Crescenzi, and a lot of DIY support from Mr Felim Blanchfield, Imelda, our maypole, was ready. A functioning maypole, festival revellers were encouraged to tie physical objects to her ribbons before a finale dance, binding the combined experiences into a permanent memory of the summer.
