About Shauna

Shauna Blanchfield is an Irish artist and freelance events manager, based in New Cross. Her visual arts practice is grounded in figuration, and thinks about how self-definition is informed by place. She is interested in questions of unreliable memories, collective social identity and inter-dependence.

In 2021 Shauna sat the second session of the Lewisham School of Muralism, devised by the team behind Artmongers. Painting at scale and with a community focus has reinvigorated her interest in art-making, and since graduating she has integrated murals and street art into her creative practice, with new works popping up all across Lewisham and South East London.

She balances her art practice with freelance events and cultural project management with a focus on bringing art to the community. From her early days running gigs to keep the doors of her youth club open, she’s volunteered across the creative industries in the UK and Ireland. After stints with Dublin Biennial, Body and Soul and Electric Picnic music festivals and Mayfair Art Weekend, Shauna became Trustee of Camberwell Arts in 2019. Initially concentrating on the Open Studios and Volunteering programme, Shauna pivoted to digital delivery in response to COVID-19. Since then she’s explored the world of live-streaming and hybrid events, transitioning to freelance work in August 2022.

Shauna holds a 1st class honours degree in Business Studies and Arts Management from IADT, Dún Laoghaire, where she also won Student of the Year 2015. She lives in South East London with her partner Ciarán and a very unruly garden.
